Coaching and Mentoring

My practice as a coach is influenced by my understanding of Transactional Analysis (TA) — a theory, methodology and model of communication, interaction and relationships.  Fundamental to TA are its philosophical assumptions that people are OK, that they have the capacity to think for themselves, and that they are capable of taking appropriate action to work towards change.

I value these beliefs in the intrinsic worth of me and my coachee, in the autonomy of my coachee, and in his or her ability to bring about change in themselves.  It means that I guard against both rescuing and directing. My coachee is able to make his or her own decisions.

I am a Member of the European Mentoring & Coaching Council and the Institute of Developmental Transactional Analysis, and a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute, and subscribe to the ethical codes of conduct and practice of each of these organisations.

Facilitating Change

I work with individuals, teams and partnerships, organisations and networks to listen, reflect, probe and surface presenting issues.

I grasp complex policy and practice issues, and offer insights from substantial personal experience of coaching and facilitating transformational and transactional leadership and change.

I design, produce and facilitate whole systems and participative approaches to stakeholder engagement.

I seek to create shared awareness and ownership of corporate vision, values and behavioural competencies, and I promote and support individual roles and responsibilities for their achievement.

I use Appreciative Inquiry throughout my work.  I find it more enjoyable to ask about what is going well, and how it could be made better, happen more frequently or have greater impact.

Profiling Culture and Diversity

I work as an Associate Intercultural Consultant for Brookfield Global Relocation Services, Cartus, and Dean Foster Associates, delivering coaching and training to executives and their spouses prior to their expatriation or after repatriation from an international assignment.  I am accredited to administer a range of WorldWork’s diagnostics for those who work in international or multicultural environments.

Not all multicultural environments have an international or ethnic dimension, and the same approach and skillset is equally applicable to professional cultural diversity in mergers and acqusitions.  I am also accredited to administer the Denison Cultural Survey, which links organisational culture and leadership to business performance.
